Open to people with all levels of experience, even those new to yoga. This workshop is intended
to assist you in developing your own practice and cultivating awareness using the influence of
Vanda’s work. In this variation of hatha yoga, you will be learning how the body works in the
asanas, as an organic process of undoing tension, finding wholeness in movement, and developing freedom through the spine. Experience aliveness, and beauty with a sense of ease, depth, and gentleness. Everyone will receive individual attention.

Brooke WelshBrooke Welsh has been interested in the interconnectedness and expression of beauty for most of her life. She has been actively involved in the healing arts since 1998. Brooke’s yoga is inspired by
the practice of Vanda Scaravelli, author of “Awakening the Spine”.

For nearly seven years Brooke has studied with Diane Long, Vanda’s main student for 23 years. Diane has given her blessing for Brooke to share this yoga with others. Brooke is also a massage therapist and a rebirther. She travels, teaches and studies around the world, and is fortunate to have wonderful teachers from various backgrounds. She utilizes yoga, breath and bodywork to enjoy life more, uncovering integration and wholeness for herself and others.

Deep Peace Relaxation Workshop: A Supported Shavasana Practice with Penny Ballantyne

Workshops will be held on the following Saturdays:

  • February 23, 2008
  • March 15, 2008
  • April 12, 2008


These workshops will be an opportunity for participants to learn a deep relaxation technique called Yoga Nidra. Sometimes called “yogic sleep,” Yoga Nidra is not sleep at all but rather a state of dynamic awareness, which is deeply peaceful and relaxing. The mind is focused inward away from physical experience. Participants will learn several comfortable supine postures using props and supports allowing the body to completely relax in a safe and comfortable position. Through the use of imagery, music and poetry, the conscious mind remains aware and focused, while the body rests. This often leads to a deep sense of stillness in which creativity, intuition and peace can arise.
